dc.description.abstract | The Turkish textile and apparel industry, which began to expand in the late
1980s with the state’s transition to an export-oriented development model,
ranked seventh among the largest producers and exporters in the world in
2018 (Comtrade UN 2018; Ticaret Bakanlığı 2020). The industry has long had a
strong contract-manufacturer image due to the absence of globally recognized
brands. Since the new millennia, state subsidy programmes and private initiatives
