Judith Butler Cinsiyet Belası: Feminizm ve Kimliğin Altüst Edilmesi metniyle cinsiyet çalışmalarında, toplumsal alanda cinsiyet kavramını ele almış ve biyolojik cinsiyetin toplumsal cinsiyete olan büyük etkisinin yıkılmasını, toplumsal cinsiyetin cinsiyetten ayrılmasını ve cinsiyetin söylemsel bir alana taşınmasını, çeşitli filozoflara referans vererek kimlik- cinsiyet bağlantısını yeniden kurduğu kuramını açıklamıştır. The question of how being embodied beings shapes our perception of the world critically challenges ontological frameworks rooted in mind-body dualism. In Gender Trouble: Feminism and the Subversion of Identity, Judith Butler addresses the concept of gender within both gender studies and the social realm, presenting her theory that reconfigures the connection between identity and gender. By drawing on various philosophers, Butler deconstructs the primacy traditionally attributed to biological sex in defining gender, thus distinguishing gender from sex and relocating it within a discursive sphere. However, this theory of constructed gender identity raises an important question: "What about the materiality of the body?" Butler engages with this concern in Bodies That Matter: On the Discursive Limits of Sex, examining the implications for embodied experience. If the body is understood as a site where possibilities are dramatized, what role does bodily experience play in the formation of gender identity? Does Butler's concept of the body align with the body described in Beauvoirian feminism, recognized as an early form of feminist phenomenology? Although Butler grounds her work in experience, she critiques the approaches of Simone de Beauvoir and Maurice Merleau-Ponty to the gendered body as "essentialist." However, while situated within the traditional epistemological-ontological divide, Butler seeks to dismantle the sex/gender distinction and thus continues to grapple with the binary of "material" and "formative power" In this study, I will examine Judith Butler's theory of gender identity within the context of feminist philosophy. Additionally, I will explore her criticisms of phenomenologist Merleau-Ponty and the existentialist perspectives on body and gender, aiming to analyze the role of the body within Butler's theoretical framework. | en_US |
