The Retranslation Phenomenon Within Translation Studies
Özet
In my bachelor thesis, the article entitled “Voice in Retranslation- An overview and some trends” by Cecilia Alvstad and Alexandra Assis Rosa, is translated from English into Turkish. The article mainly focuses on retranslation both as product and process and attempts to combine retranslation and voice studies. The aim of the thesis, the translation process, and challenging parts within the translation, and discussion part will be included in this thesis.
Firstly, the aim of my thesis, and the reason behind my text choice will be mentioned. After that, my translation process will be stated under three subtitles which are pre- translation, translation process, and post-translation. In the pre-translation section, I will mention how I prepare for the translation process before starting translation of the article I chose. My translation process, the struggles I encountered, and my strategies as a translator will be included under the translation process section. Last but not least, in post-translation section I will mention everything related to my translation process in general.
There is an extra part which my thesis advisor wanted me to do, and it is called discussion. In discussion part, I will briefly mention my own opinions about the topic that related the article I chose. I will state my retranslation perception in a different point of view. Finally, I will conclude my commentary mentioning everything in a general. Also, the source text, target text (my Turkish translation), term list, and some screenshots related to my thesis will be given in appendices.
